Found this gem in a coffee table book from 1947
by fresh prince of ohio incontext was a discussion of anti-war groups.
the caption for the pic described the jws as "pathetic" (probably reflecting the victorious postwar mood).
outlaw could probably have some fun incorporating this pic into his comments!

Are the GB Mental
by moley injust a thought, do the gb actually beleive they are gods chosen reps and truly beleive this crap or are they just in it for the power and the authority.
-

The GB are in the same position as all believing JWs. For them, as much or more so than any average JW, to entertain the possibility, for even a moment, that JWism and all it entails concerning faithful slaves and armageddons and everything else, is all just a collective fantasy, is to face an unbearable avalanche of cognitive dissonance.

Apostate: From 279 Facebook friends to 81 overnight... thanks MOM!
by sosoconfused inthe drama continues, i log on to facebook this morning and notice that i have about 20 some odd personal messages from people calling me an apostate to they will return to me when i return to jehovah.. all of this based upon my brother informing others that i have "apostate thoughts".
my mother also encourage long-time famil friends to "unfriend" me because i have taken my stand on the side of satan... wow.
don't you just love this international brotherhood.

I have heard news that you have decided to turn your back on the one true organization because you were not recognize for your own abilities. This reminds me of Korah. Do you know what happened to him? Do you wish this to be your outcome? Surely you love your children and what about <wifes name>?
Your selfish course will cost them their lives if you continue to allow your pride to cause you to deviate from the faithful slave. <blah blah blah>
Just shaking my head. God JWs suck.

During Your IN Years If You Had Anointed At Your Hall, What Were They Like?
by LoisLane looking for Superman inthe scoop of humanity at one khall, the anointed ones" were a mixed group.. one bro, h. had been in for eons.
he was df for adultery, back in the day when they would announce your sin openly from the platform to everyone.
he just kept on coming and partaking until he was reinstated.

Only knew one that partook. She was very odd, for sure - never really had an open, engaging expression when you talked to her, it was always this weird smile. Had six screwed-up homeskooled kids that I think pretty much raised themselves. Her husband was actually a pretty cool guy, don't know how he got pulled into that mess. Never stick your d*ck in crazy, as they say.
So awkward during the memorial to hear her sitting there crunching on the crackers LOL.

If ARMAGEDDON Came, Would YOU Repent?
by Cold Steel inthe day finally comes.
you get up one day with the nagging feeling that it's going to be different.
you get dressed, get in the car, then notice how dark the weather's getting.

I've often wondered, and this is morbid, but what thoughts run through the heads of backsliding or otherwise sorta-believing but not REALLY active in the faith Jaydubs who are facing death in a natural disaster? Like, let's take the recent Oklahoma tornado for example. Let's say you're Joe the JW backslider living in Moore OK. Raised in da twoof, with wife, kids, dog, etc., never really "reached out" to be an MS or Elder, but you're not the heavy critical thinking type so you have always pretty much just gone along with the program and felt that "it is the truth" as JWs say, although you are well aware that you're not the most zealous member, you spend a lot of time watching sports (Go SOONERS!), you don't really make a big point of witnessing to coworkers, etc.
Then, one day, you find yourself in the first level of your house, with a roaring, low-pitched, terrifying rumble happening nearby, that gets louder, and louder, and soon your house is shaking and creaking and then it gives way, and you find yourself fully exposed to the deafening roar of something more powerful than you ever imagined, for just a minute, because you're being slammed with debris that winds up killing you rather quickly.
Do jaydubs in such situations think, oh shit, it's armageddon, and i didn't do enough and now I'm being KILLED by GOD? How nice that WTS brainwash makes such thinking on the part of persons that are facing death a real possibililty. Oy.

Former Long Time Elder - Judicial Committees
by James Jackson inwhen i first was appointed as an elder, i could not wait to be on a judicial committee.
it semed like most hearings invovled middle age men and women cheating on their mates because either they had married early or felt that were being neglected by their mate.
most times i felt i need to take a long hot shower after a hearing.. the toughest part was seeing these sweet young children grow up in "the truth", and now you are about to judge their future based on their repentance.

Yet, we encourage Teenagers, even Preteens to get Baptized
When I was in i was friends with a married couple. The wife had been raised in it, and had a gay brother who never took to it at all, always was a rebel, and he never got baptized. So, as an adult, he was able to have full (if at some times, strained) contact with his family with no elders hounding and threatening them about shunning him.
Contrast that to another local situation where this kid that was BOY GEORGE OBVIOUS gay gets baptized when he was like 12 or 13 like so many do, then surprise surprise a few years down the road as a young adult he comes out, and is promptly DF'd. So, because he was baptized, he's shunned for life.
Nuts! Just absolutely nuts!

Gerrit Loesch was at our DC today!
by goatshapeddemon inso, unexpectedly, the final talk was announced today and to my surprise and evil glee, they announced gerrit loesch as the speaker!
first off, at the beginning of his talk, he interrupted himself in the middle of his sentence to scold the microphone brother to lower my mike it's right in my face.. anyway, it was the talk on inspired truth, vs. inspired falsehoods.
he went through 6 expressions inspired by the demons.

The last demon-inspired expression was the belief that Internet dating was ok. Clearly, a work of the devil. Heaven forbid all those single people at these desert-quality conventions with no one to date actually turn somewhere else to find a mate
Hmm, i wonder if some JWs have been using Christian Mingle to try to meet other single jaydubs? If so, yeezus...why so uptight about it? Control, control, control.
